Phoksintar is a beautiful village in the Udayapur district of Nepal. I was born there and completed my schooling in 2060 BS. I have been visiting my village at least once a year. I cannot visit frequently due to my tight schedule in Kathmandu. Following my visit schedule to my village this year, I visited my beautiful village with my beautiful daughter, Brislin Rai, aged 7.
Brislin visited first time in the village this year. So she was so inundated to and while visiting the village. We took a flight on Buddha Air/ATR 72 from Tribhuvan International Airport to Rajbiraj Airport on 11 April 2021 at 10:50 am. On the same day, the daughter’s mom, Apsara Gurung, had to fly to Bhairahawa Airport for Tansen, Palpa. So we went to the airport together. We almost had a flight at nearly the same time, but some delays occurred. It was a wonderful flight despite some turbulence, due to a mild storm that normally occurs in the eastern region of Nepal while landing in the airport. Brislin vomited inside the plane when the plane was in that unsteady movement or turbulence. As human beings, and given the past incident of the plane crash, both of us, including other passengers, were so frightened at that moment. Ultimately, we landed safely at Rajbiraj Airport by around 12:30 pm.
We took an auto-rickshaw from the airport to the Rajbiraja bazaar at NPR 200. After riding the rickshaw for about 20 minutes, we reached Rajbiraj market and reserved a microbus at NPR 2500 for Gaighat. We reached Gaighat at 2 pm. Brislin was so tired at that time. Her face was totally pale when we had to get off at the Triyuga bus park. Unfortunately, we did not find any buses there for our village. We were informed by someone there that the bus could be found at Pipal Chowk. So we again took a rickshaw and went to the Pipal Chowk, but we did not find any vehicles there as well to go to the village. The counter said that all the buses had already gone, and the last bus scheduled for 3 pm did not go today due to engine servicing. So, we reserved a Bolero van for NPR 4000. We reached home by 5 pm.
We met parents and relatives. Brislin had brought a Nepali Dhaka topi for her Baje. She offered it on Baje’s head. Baje was so happy that he met Natini, and Natini met Baje for the first time, although Baje could not communicate properly due to the problem with his tongue and other physical sicknesses. We crossed the Sunkoshi River the next day to play with sand at the bank of the river. We took photographs.
We played with a cat and a dog at home. Brislin vomited more than 3 times over 3 days due to having unhygienic food. But fortunately, she overcame it on the same day. After spending 5 days in the village, we returned to Kathmandu. We took a truck from Ghumne, where Thuli Nana’s house is located, and we ate food there at that time because we did not find any suitable buses or other vehicles. It was very difficult to travel by that truck due to the very rough road and shaking. We arrived at Gaighat by 3 pm. Brislin was so tired when we arrived at Gaithat Bazar. We took an auto-rickshaw and went to Ekraj’s house. We stayed there one night. The next day we moved to Rajbiraj by an auto-rickshaw for NPR 2500. The flight was scheduled for 10 am. The Buddha Air/72 ATR made a takeoff from Rajbiraj Airport at around 11 am. The flight was being nice but it suddenly faced heavy turbulence and darkness inside the airplane due to rain while the plane was approaching Kathmandu Airport for landing. Ultimately, we landed successfully at Tribhuvan International Airport by 12 pm. We reserved a tourist car for NPR 1000 to Dhapakhel, and we reached Dhapakhel by 1 pm. Hurray! The travel was completed. Father and Daughter made a plan to visit our village again at least once each year.
